Virginia's Inglot leads All-ACC Men's Tennis Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia senior Dominic Inglot has been named the 2009 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year and leads the ACC All-Academic Team, as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Inglot, of London, England, was also named the ACC Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2008. Inglot is a six-time member of Virginia's Athletic Honor Roll, a three-time member of the Dean's List and a three-time member of the ACC Honor Roll. It has also been an extremely successful year athletic-wise for Inglot, who teamed with Michael Shabaz to capture the 2009 NCAA Doubles Championship. Inglot earned ITA All-America honors in singles and doubles, earned a spot on the All-ACC first team and was named MVP of the ACC Championship. Inglot ended the season ranked 15th nationally in singles and second in doubles. The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters. The ACC Men's Tennis All-Academic Team includes 10 repeat selections from 2008 and one four-time selection in Duke's Kiril Dimitrov. Four ITA All-Americans - Virginia's Inglot and Sanam Singh, Georgia Tech's Guillermo Gomez and NC State's Jay Weinacker - earned All-Academic recognition as well. Seven student-athletes earning All-ACC Academic honors were also All-ACC selections: Duke's Dimitrov, Georgia Tech's Gomez, NC State's Weinacker, Virginia's Inglot, Singh and Houston Barrick, and Virginia Tech's Yoann Re. ACC Freshman of the Year Luke Somen of Virginia Tech also earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic team.
