Will Plyler Wins ITA Summer Circuit Title
July 23, 2007 Chapel Hill, N.C. - Rising Senior Will Plyler defeated Clemson's Kevin Fleck to win the singles title of the ITA Summer Circuit Tournament at UNC's Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Plyler won six matches over the course of four days, including two matches in blistering heat on Monday that were decided in third set match tiebreakers. Plyler defeated Michigan State's John Stratton, Charleston Southern's Chris Peek, Georgetown's Will Lowell, NC State's Eric Turner, Georgia Chris Motes and Clemson's Fleck. Plyler also reached the doubles semifinals with teammate Kyle Baker. Plyler and former Tar Heel All-American Raian Luchici have both won Summer Circuit singles championships during their Carolina tennis careers. The University of North Carolina is the third of four schools hosting tournaments in the Southeast Region. Next weekend the Southeast Region concludes at UNC-Greensboro. There are six Summer Circuit regions around the country which host tournaments in July. The entire Circuit culminates at the ITA National Summer Championships in Bloomington, Ind. August 11-15. The winner of the ITA National Summer Championships receives a wild card into the Main Draw of the ITA All-American Championships in October.
