Tallahassee, Fla. - After Tuesday's (July 11th) second day of the ITA Summer College Circuit, three players on the Florida State tennis teams advance to the semi-finals at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in singles action while three double partners advance to the third round.

In singles action, incoming freshmen Jessica Wente (Whitehouse, Texas/Whitehouse HS) and Lauren Macfarlane (Odgen, Utah/Weber HS) advanced to the semi-finals. Junior Tapiwa Marobela (Gaborone, Botswana/ Clapham) won in the third round 1-6, 6-4, 10-5 over Mari Muller to advance to the fourth round where she fell against Ghizela Schulte. Seventh seed Wente defeated Britney Larson 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the fourth round where she beat Caitlin Whoriskey 6-1, 7-6. Fourth seed Macfarlane beat Marah Calvo 6-1, 6-3 also to advance to the fourth round to face Isabel Ohlinger and win 6-2, 6-1.

On the men's side, while first seed Jonathas Sucupira (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Megga) thrashed his opponent Simba Happy 6-1, 6-0, to advance to the fourth round against teammate Jason Hood (Columbia S.C./Richland Northeast) and beat him 6-3, 6-4. Hood defeated Alex Vucovick 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the fourth around. Third seed Chris Cloer (Brevard, NC/Brevard HS) beat his challenger, Sandeep Daiya 6-2,6-3 to advance to the fourth round and faced Taylor Fogleman where he lost 6-2, 5-7, 10-5. Seventh seed Andrew Bailey (Tallahassee, Fla./Lincoln) lost to Zurab Zhania in a close match 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 in the third round.

On doubles action, third seed Marobela and partner Courtney Ulery of Vanderbilt defeated Grace Baljon and Katja Decker-Sadowski 8-1 in the second round. Fourth seed Macfarlane and Wente routed opponents Keyla Schwenk and Allison Adamski 8-5 in the second round as well.

In the men's doubles, first seed Sucupira and Hood faced Alex Cummings and Danny Colon 9-7 to advance to the third round while second seed Cloer and Bailey fell to Josh Irey and George Navas on Monday, July 10th, 5-8.

The Seminoles are hosting the first stop of the 2006 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Summer College Circuit. The ITA runs a circuit of events during the summer with eight different regions hosting a circuit of four events. Florida State is hosting the first of four events in the Southern Region.
