![]() Blackmon, Rath Named to All-ACC Academic Men's Tennis Team
July 3, 2007 ATLANTA - Scott Blackmon and Zach Rath were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic men's tennis team announced Tuesday by the conference office and commissioner John D. Swofford. Blackmon, a junior management major, finished the 2007 dual season with a 10-9 singles record predominantly from the No. 6 position for Georgia Tech. The Pensacola, Fla. native enjoyed victories in the teams last two matches of the season, defeating J.C. Whitner of Miami, 3-6, 7-5, 6-0, at the ACC Championships and beating Billy Mulligan of Florida, 6-1, 6-1, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Blackmon teamed with various partners during the dual season to finish with a 7-11 doubles record. He closed out his spring semester with a 3.5 GPA and has an overall 3.0 GPA at Tech to earn his first All-ACC Academic nod. Rath, a recent Tech graduate in management, finished his senior season with a 7-9 singles record from the No. 3 through No. 6 positions. The Montreal, Quebec native also closed out his season on a winning streak, claiming his final five finished matches including a victory over Hector Nieto of Miami, 6-4, 6-4, at the ACC Championships. Rath also completed the dual season with a 3-5 doubles record. He had a 3.5 GPA in his final semester at Tech and graduated with a 3.11 overall GPA to garner his first All-ACC Academic honor. 2007 All-ACC Academic Men's Tennis Team Player, School -Yr -Major
