RALEIGH, N.C. - If there was ever any doubt that the NC State men's tennis program was improving by leaps and bounds, the newly released Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) year-ending rankings should serve as a cease and desist order to any second-guessing. Head coach Jon Choboy's team battled its way to a No. 46 final national ranking, serving as the team's first final ranking since the 1999 squad finished at No. 44. In addition, freshman Nick Cavaday solidified a solid first-year with a No. 114 final ranking in singles play.

NC State finished the season with a 15-12 record, going 2-8 in ACC regular season competition. The squad's 15 wins were the most since 1988 for a Wolfpack tennis team. Throughout the spring, NC State also downed six nationally ranked squads in head-to-head play, including No. 58 Louisiana Lafayette, No. 59 Brown, No. 68 Purdue, No. 70 Indiana, No. 30 Florida State and No. 68 William and Mary.

Freshman Nick Cavaday

Cavaday, a native of London, England, picked up a No. 114 final ranking in singles action after capping off spring play with a strong 14-9 record, including an 11-5 slate at No. 2 singles. In the fall, Cavaday posted a 6-3 mark in singles work.

With a solid returning cast, and a nationally recognized incoming duo, the Red and White will look to continue catapulting up the national scene throughout next season. Only one member of this past season's roster, senior Conor Taylor, will be exiting the program.
