TALLAHASSEE, FL.-- Florida State tennis is hosting the 2001 USTA Tallahassee Tennis Challenger, a men's professional series event, presented by Meridian Healthcare Group and benefiting the D. Mark Vogter M.D. Memorial Endowment for the Neuro-Intensive Care Unit at Tallahassee Memorial. Top class tennis action begins with a 32 player pre-qualifying event on Wednesday, May 30th at 3:00 p.m.

Members of the Florida State men's tennis team who will participate in the tournament include, Xavier Luscan, Alex Herrera, Jarrod Owen, Rodrigo Laub, Bartosz Koldej, and Jeff Scarella. Luscan has received a wild-card into the singles main-draw, which begins on June 5th, while the rest of the FSU players will compete May 30th through June 2nd for one wild-card into the 64 player qualifying tournament, which takes place on June 3rd and 4th.

All matches of the 2001 USTA Tennis Challenger will be played at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. Admission is free through Thursday, June 7th.
