Duke's doubles tandem of Phillip King and Michael Yani defeated Bobby Reynolds and Lewis Smith of Vanderbilt in three sets to advance to the Round of 16 at the NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas.

King and Yani downed Reynolds and Smith, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, and will face John Fruttero and Robert Kowalczyk of California on Friday.

In singles action, King was eliminated from the bracket with a 6-2, 6-3 loss t o Miami's Todd Widom.
