NCAA Men's Tennis Singles & Doubles Draws Released

ATHENS, GA. -- The singles and doubles draws for the 2001 NCAA Men's Tennis Championships in Athens, Ga., were announced on Wednesday. Marco Baron of Mississippi State earned the top seed in the singles bracket while Virginia's doubles team of Huntley Montgomery and Brian Vahaley was tabbed the top seed for the doubles. Duke will be represented by four singles participants -- Marko Cerenko, Phillip King, Andres Pedroso and Ramsey Smith -- as well as one doubles tandem in King and Smith. In Thursday's first round singles matches, Cerenko will meet Julien Raynal of South Alabama while King faces Jon Wallmark of SMU. In addition, Pedroso takes on Michael Lang of Miami (Fla.) and Smith squares off against Takeshi Itoh of New Mexico.
The doubles action begins on Friday, with King and Smith playing the team of
Baron and Chris McDonald of Mississippi State.
