DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke assistant men's tennis coach Dave Hagymas has been named the National Assistant Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Hagymas, a 1989 graduate of Coastal Carolina, is in his eighth season as Jay Lapidus' top assistant coach. He has helped Duke to a national top 15 ranking in each of the past eight years.

Since Hagymas joined the Blue Devil men's tennis program in 1994, Duke has posted an overall record of 182-46 (.798) while winning seven ACC Championships. The Blue Devils made their third straight appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2001 while posting a 24-4 overall record.

A native of Albany, N.Y., Hagymas was named the ITA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year in 1997.
