King & Yani Advance In NCAA Doubles Bracket

Duke's third-seeded pair of Phillip King and Michael Yani picked up a straight set victory in the opening round of the 2003 NCAA Men's Tennis Doubles Championship on Thursday afternoon in Athens, Ga.

King and Yani, now 21-3 on the season, defeated David Lingman and Mark Riddell of Harvard, 7-6, 6-4. The Duke tandem will meet the winner of Arizona State's Olivier Charrion and Chris Stewart and Illinois' Rajeev Ram and Brian Wilson on Friday in the Round of 16.

In 2002, King and Yani reached the semifinals of the doubles bracket.
