CARY, N.C. - Top-seeded Virginia took care of business Sunday afternoon, defeating No. 2 seed North Carolina, 5-0, in the title match of the 2007 ACC Men's Tennis Championship at Cary Tennis Park. The league crown is the third in the last four years for the Cavaliers.

The nation's No. 2 doubles tandem of Somdev Devvarman and Treat Huey got Virginia up on the board first, blanking UNC's Lenny Gullan and David Stone at the top flight, 8-0. The Tar Heels evened the playing field after Sebastian Guejman and Stefan Hardy picked up an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles against Dominic Inglot and Houston Barrick.

The battle came down to the No. 3 position, as Teddy Angelinos and Lee Singer held off a tough UNC duo of Chris Kearney and Taylor Fogleman, 8-6, to notch the doubles point for Virginia.

UVa continued its momentum in singles play, as the Cavaliers picked up wins at Nos. 2, 3, 1 and 6 in straight sets. The Cavs claimed their third all-time ACC league championship title with a 5-0 victory.

Third year Teddy Angelinos was named the tournament's most valuable player after posting a 2-0 mark in singles play for the Cavs.

UVa, which also earned the league's automatic NCAA bid, and the rest of ACC men's tennis will be awaiting their fate in the NCAA Tournament. Team selections for the national event will be announced Tuesday, May 1, between 2:30-3 p.m. on ESPNews, while the NCAA will release the individual selections on its web site (www.ncaasports.com) Wednesday, May 2, at 5 p.m.

First and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament takes place May 11-12, and held at different campus sites to be determined when team selections are announced on May 1.

Finals for both team and individual competition will be hosted by the University of Georgia at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., on May 17-28.
