April 19, 2011
GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina junior Brennan Boyajian has been named the final Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for 2011 after defeating a pair of ranked opponents and leading North Carolina to three straight conference wins.
Boyajian, of Weston, Fla., swept his three singles matches with straight set victories. As the Tar Heels wrapped up the No. 2 seed in this week's ACC Championship at Cary, N.C., Boyajian provided key wins at No. 2 singles. In the mid-week rivalry matchup with No. 10 Duke, Boyajian gave UNC a critical point in his 6-1, 6-1 win over No. 9 Reid Carleton. Carleton had beat 17 ranked opponents this season and was the highest-ranked player Boyajian has ever defeated.
Boyajian then defeated No. 25 Miami's Keith Crowley as part of yet another Tar Heel victory. He finished the weekend with another win over a ranked opponent, this time defeating the Hurricanes' No. 108 Clint Bowles.
