Pairings Announced for 2010 ACC Men's Tennis Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Top-ranked Virginia, winner of a record 58 consecutive matches vs. Atlantic Coast Conference competition, headlines the field for the 2010 ACC Men’s Tennis Championship, which gets under way Thursday at Cary (N.C.) Tennis Park. The Cavaliers (32-1, 11-0) will be going after their fourth straight ACC title and their sixth in seven years. Virginia is one of seven ACC teams among the nation’s top 27 in the latest Campbell’s/ITA national rankings. The tournament will also include the nation’s top-ranked doubles team (Duke’s Henrique Cunha and Reid Carleton). Duke’s Cunha (No. 3), Virginia’s Michael Shabaz (No. 6), Georgia Tech’s Guillermo Gomez (No. 8), Virginia’s Sanam Singh (No. 13) and Wake Forest’s Steven Forman (No. 23) all entered this week ranked among the nation’s Top 25 singles players. Action begins with first-round matches on Thursday and continues through Sunday’s 11 a.m. championship match.
