    Top-seeded Duke downs No. 4 Wake Forest to advance to the finals in ACC Men's Tennis Action

    RALEIGH, N.C. -- The No. 1 seeded Duke Blue Devils defeated No. 4 Wake Forest 4-0 to advance to the finals of the 2003 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championship at the Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C.

    The Blue Devils took the doubles point with victories at No. 1 from Yani/King and at No. 2 from Zimmermann/Walter, while the Demon Deacons' Loewenthal/Simpson won at No. 3 doubles .

    Duke swept doubles action with wins from Phillip King at No. 1, Michael Yani at No. 2 and Jason Zimmermann at No. 4.

    The Blue Devils improve to 19-5 and will advance to the finals where they will face Clemson. With the loss, the Deacons fall to 13-8 on the year. The championship game is set to start at 11:00 a.m., on Sunday, April 20.

    Clemson advances to championship match defeating Florida State 4-3 in ACC Men's Tennis

    RALEIGH, N.C. -- No. 2 seeded Clemson Tigers outlasted third-seeded Florida State 4-3 advance to the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament finals at the Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center.

    The Tigers will take on top-seeded Duke in Sunday's championship match, scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

    Clemson earned the crucial doubles point, taking a 1-0 lead. Winning at No. 1 doubles was N./Thompson/Jenkins and at No. 3 was Koning/B. Twente. In singles play, Clemson was led by Romain Jurd at No. 2, Chris Westerhof at No. 3 and Chip Webb at No. 4.

    For the Seminoles, No. 1 Mat Cloer, No. 5 Jeff Groslimond and No. 6 Rodrigo Laub defeated their opponents.

    With the loss the Noles drop to 14-10 while Clemson improves to 24-9 and will take on Duke in tomorrow's ACC Championship match.
