Mitchell Frank Named ACC Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia sophomore Mitchell Frank has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office.
The Cavaliers went 4-0 last week with road wins over No. 19 Baylor, 6-1, No. 11 Texas A&M, 6-1, No. 14 Texas, 5-2, and No. 15 Illinois, 7-0, while Frank went undefeated on the week in both singles and doubles play. All four of his singles wins came against ranked competition.
In singles play, Frank started the week with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3 over Baylor’s No. 98 Mate Zsiga. He followed that with wins over Texas A&M’s No. 77 Shane Vinsant (6-2, 6-1) at No. 4, Texas’ No. 82 Daniel Whitehead (6-3, 6-1), and capped the week with a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Illinois’ No. 108 Ross Guignon.
Frank paired with Alex Domijan to amass four doubles wins on the road at No. 2 highlighted by an 8-3 victory over the No. 13 Aggie pair of Harrison Adams and Vinsant. Frank and Domijan are ranked No. 46 in the latest ITA Men’s Tennis Doubles Rankings. This is Mitchell’s first player of the week honor.
