GREENSBORO, N.C. - Jean-Yves Aubone of Florida State has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week after helping No. 16 Florida State finish 2-0 on the week, as the Seminoles secured a 5-2 win against 36th-ranked Georgia Tech and a 6-1 victory over 25th-ranked Texas A&M last week.
Ranked 35th in the nation in singles, Aubone recorded a pair of wins at the top spot including a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (4) victory over No. 27 Conor Pollock from Texas A&M on Sunday. The sophomore from Miami, Fla., also defeated Georgia Tech's Guillermo Gomez 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 1 flight, giving the Garnet and Gold their first ACC win of the season as both schools kicked off league play last Friday.
This week's league recognition is the first for Aubone this season and second straight for Florida State.
The Seminoles have one match on their slate this week, as they travel to Texas on Saturday for a 1 p.m. meeting.
