King Advances In Singles, Walter And Zimmermann In Doubles At NCAAs

TULSA, OKLA. - Duke's Phillip King, seeded fifth, advanced into the third round of the 2004 NCAA Singles Championship Tournament with a straight set win over Pedro Nieto Thursday in Tulsa, Okla. In double action, Duke's Ludovic Walter and Jason Zimmermann advanced to the second round, as well. With the 7-6, 6-4 win, King improves his record to 20-8 on the year while advancing to the Round of 16. The senior from Long Beach, Calif., will face Guillaume Bouvier of Boise State, who Thursday defeated William Baker of Rice 6-1, 6-2. The match will begin at 12 p.m. Friday.
Walter and Zimmermann defeated Dustin Taylor and Alejandro Tejerina, Tulsa, 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the Round of 16. They will face Florida's Chris Brandi and Hamid Mirzadeh at 2 p.m. Friday.
