The 17th-ranked Duke men's tennis team cruised to a 4-0 victory over the 75h-ranked American Eagles on Saturday at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Devils will next take on the winner of the 10th-ranked California vs. UMBC match on Sunday at 1:00 PM.

The match was moved inside because of an hour and 15 minute delay due to inclement weather.

In doubles action, Duke stormed out to a 1-0 lead after picking up victories at the number one and three positions. The Blue Devil duo of Jason Zimmerman/Yorke Allen won the first 22 consecutive points and ended up losing only three points on their way to winning 8-0 in only 24 minutes over Kyle Bailey/Jonah Fliegelman at the third position. Duke's 28th-ranked tandem of Phillip King/Michael Yani also notched an 8-3 win over Bence Hamori/Josh Procacci.

The Blue Devils didn't slow down in singles as Duke cruised to three singles victories in only 53 minutes to take the 4-0 victory over American. Duke notched victories at the second, third and fifth positions by 43rd-ranked Yani, Zimmerman and Allen. Yani downed Procacci 6-3, 6-0 at number two, Zimmerman defeated Tushar Garg 6-2, 6-1 at the third position and Allen knocked off Tarralle 6-2, 6-0.

"I thought that we played a really good match today," said Duke head coach Jay Lapidus. "I feel like we are refreshed now. I thought that was the best we've played in a long time, so I was really pleased. We'll see what we can do tomorrow and hopefully we can stay at that same level."
