No. 4 Wake Forest downs No. 5 Virginia in ACC Men's Tennis Action
RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 4 seeded Wake Forest Demon Deacons defeated the No. 5 seeded Virginia Cavaliers 4-0 in the first quarterfinal match at the 2003 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championship at the Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C.

The Demon Deacons won the doubles point with wins from Murray/Brendon at No. 2 and Loewenthal/Simpson at No. 3. Following the doubles point, Wake Forest picked up wins at No. 2 singles from Derrick Spice, No. 3 singles from David Bere and No. 5 singles from Mike Murray. The lone Cavalier win came from the No. 1 doubles tandem of Duquette/Stewart.

Wake Forest improves its record to 13-7 and will advance to the semifinals where they will face the No. 1 seeded Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, April 19 at 10:00 a.m. With the loss, Virginia falls to 20-8 on the year.

No. 2 Clemson defeats No. 7 North Carolina to advance to the Semifinals in ACC Men's Tennis
RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 2 seeded Clemson Tigers defeated the No. 7 seeded North Carolina Tar Heels 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the 2003 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championship held at the Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C.

The Tar Heels began singles with a 1-0 start after winning the doubles point with victories from No. 1 Meniane/Monroe and No. 2 Boyd/Archer, but with four singles victories from No. 1 Nathan Thompson, No. 3 Jarmaine Jenkins, No. 4 John Boetsch and No. 5 Damissa Robinson, the Tigers won the match 4-1 to advance to the semifinals.

Clemson improves its record to 23-9 while North Carolina drops to 11-11. The Tigers will face Florida State in tomorrow's semifinal at 1:00 p.m.

No. 3 Florida State defeats No. 6 Georgia Tech to advance to the Semifinals in ACC Men's Tennis
RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 3 seeded Florida State Seminoles downed the No. 6 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 4-3 in the quarterfinals of the 2003 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championship held at the Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C.

The Seminoles won the doubles point with victories from Herrera/Jurd at No. 1 and Cloer/Laub at No. 2. In singles action, Florida State rounded out the victory with wins from No. 1 Mat Cloer, No. 4 Chip Webb and No. 5 Jeff Groslimond.

The Noles improve to 14-9 while Georgia Tech drops to 12-9. Florida State will face Clemson in tomorrow's semifinal match at 1:00 p.m.
