No. 19 Texas A&M Men's Tennis Tops Tar Heels
March 12, 1999 COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The 19th-ranked Texas A&M men's tennis team remained undefeated Thursday as it defeated 58th-ranked North Carolina 4-0 in a rain-shortened match at the Texas A&M Varsity Tennis Center. The Aggies improved to 7-0 on the season while Carolina lost its second match in a row and fell to 6-5. The Aggies won the doubles point and the #4 through #6 singles were completed despite two long rain delays. The second rain delay forced the cancellation of the final three singles matches. The doubles play was highlighted by the #1 doubles pairing when A&M's Dumitry Caradima and Shuon Madden, the #1-ranked college doubles team in the country, defeated North Carolina's Assaf Drori and Bjorn Rencken, 8-3. Carolina will continue its spring break trip to Texas when the Tar Heels play 34th-ranked Texas Christian on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Fort Worth, Texas.
