Seminoles Take The Wind Out Of The Hurricanes, 4-3 It was a windy Saturday at the Scott Speicher Center but that didn’t stop the No. 16-ranked Florida State men’s tennis team from blowing away the No. 24-ranked Miami Hurricanes. FSU defeated Miami 4-3 and improved to 10-4 overall and 1-0 in ACC action while the Hurricanes fell to an even 4-4 on the year, including 1-1 in league play. The Seminoles went up 3-0, including the doubles’ point but the match was decided by senior Maciek Sykut’s victory at No. 3 singles.
Clemson Defeats Navy and Dartmouth in Men's Tennis Doubleheader The Clemson men's tennis team defeated Navy 7-0 and Dartmouth 7-0 in a men's intercollegiate tennis doubleheader at Clemson, SC Saturday afternoon. Wes Moran improved his overall singles record to a team best 12-3 this season as he won over Ramsey Lemaich of Navy 6-2, 6-2 and had a victory over Ari Gayer of Dartmouth 6-1, 6-2. Both of these victories came at number five singles. The Tigers' Gera Boryachinsky won both of his matches at number one singles as he won over Nate Nelms of Navy 6-2, 6-0. He later won the afternoon match with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Daniel Freeman of Dartmouth. No. 40 NC State Falls to No. 39 Wisconsin The No. 40 NC State men's tennis team fell to No. 39 Wisconsin, 5-2, on Saturday, Feb. 28, in Madison, Wisc. Senior Derek Stephens and freshman Jaime Pulgar both won their singles match as the Pack fell to 6-6 on the season. Wisconsin swept all three doubles bouts to start the match with a 1-0 lead. The No. 18 doubles team of Moritz Baumann and Marek Michalicka defeated senior Christian Welte and redshirt freshman Julian Sullivan, 8-6, at No. 1. Senior Jay Weinacker and Pulgar, who are ranked No. 38 in the doubles rankings, fell to Patrick Pohlmann and Luke Rassow-Kantor, 8-3, at No. 2, and Michael Muskievicz and Michael Dierberger completed the sweep by taking down junior Frideric Prandecki and sophomore Rob Lowe, 8-5, at No. 3.
