Carolina Whips UNC-Wilmington, 7-0
February 27, 1999 CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The 47th-ranked University of North Carolina men's tennis team aced the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington 7-0 at the Cone Kenfield Tennis Center Saturday. The Heels jumped to an early 1-0 lead by taking all three doubles matches from the Sehawks. In singles, the Heels continued their sweep, winning 73 of the 100 games played in twelve sets. Senior co-captain Michael Grass played #1 singles for the Tar Heels. He defaeted UNC-Wilmington's James Collieson 6-4, 6-2. David Cheatwood, Assaf Drori and Chad Riley earned victories for the Heels at numbers two through four respectively, with scores of 6-2, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-0. Aaron Breziner and Remi Adamek sealed the Tar Heel sweep with 7-6, 6-4 and 6-0, 6-2 victories at numbers five and six. The win moves the Tar Heels to a 6-3 record overall. Their next match is Saturday, March 9, where they face the Texas Longhorns in Austin.
