Terps Victorious in ACC Opener
The Maryland men's tennis team began ACC play on a high note with a 4-3 win over Boston College Friday night at the Tennis Center at College Park.

The Terps move to 5-2 on the year, including a 1-0 start in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The team is a perfect 5-0 at home to start the dual season.

Maryland was led by Sergio Wyss, who had to come from behind in both of the first two sets at No. 1 singles.

No. 31 Men's Tennis Downs Stetson, 6-1
Coral Gables, Fla. - The No. 31 University of Miami men's tennis team won the doubles point and battled on to claim five of six singles matches for the 6-1 victory over visiting Stetson in a rescheduled match at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.

The Hurricanes (3-2), winners of their second-straight match, improved to 3-0 versus the Hatters (2-2), who dropped back-to-back matches this week.

Miami jumped out to the 1-0 lead, winning all three doubles matches. The Hurricane tandem of Keith Crowley and Hector Nieto improved to 3-0 to clinch the doubles point for UM with the 8-7 (7-4) victory at the No. 2 position. Miami's top-flight duo of Christian Blöcker and David Simon earned their team-high seventh doubles victory of the 2009-10 season, including their third at No. 1, knocking off Stetson's duo, 8-5. 

NC State Men’s Tennis Sweeps Elon 7-0
The No. 48 NC State men's tennis team earned their fourth sweep of the young season, with a 7-0 victory against Elon on Friday, Feb. 19.

The Wolfpack began play by taking two out of three doubles matches to gain the first point of the day. Dominic Hodgson teamed with Dave Thomson at the No. 2 spot to beat Philip Nemec and Cody Stauffer-MacDowell, 8-4. Akash Gujarati and Jaime Pulgar paired up at No. 3 to defeat Eric Turner and Clark Howell. The No. 54 duo of Rob Lowe and Frideric Prandecki fell 8-6 to Chase Helpingstine and Alberto Rojas.

Pulgar, who moved into the ITA singles rankings at No. 93, defeated Nemec in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Lowe fought back after losing the first set, to take the match over Helpingstine 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Hodgson dominated former Pack member Turner to the tune of 6-0, 6-1.

Tech dominates Rice, 7-0
Virginia Tech’s men’s tennis team came out focused and rolled to an impressive, 7-0, victory over No. 23 Rice Friday evening at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus. Tech improved to 5-1 with the win, while Rice fell to 5-2 on the young season. The victory sets up a showdown with arch-rival and top-ranked Virginia on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Tech, ranked No. 19 nationally which is the highest ranking in the history of the program, won two of three tightly contested doubles matches for the first point of the day and took all of the six singles contests for the victory.

In singles, Yoann Re (Sr., Verdun, Quebec, Canada), ranked No. 47 nationally, absolutely dominated 16th-ranked Bruno Rosa with a, 6-0, 6-1, win at No. 1 to give the Hokies a 2-0 lead. Tech increased the lead to 3-0 as Will Beck (Jr., Potomac, Md.) won his No. 5 contest, 6-3, 6-4, over Sam Garforth-Bles. Tech clinched to win as Sebastien Jacques (Jr., Magog, Quebec, Canada) took the No. 6 match, 6-2, 7-6 (2), against Christian Sarvia.
