No. 18 Seminoles Win 5-2 Over No. 59 Furman
The No. 18 Florida State men's tennis team continued its winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Furman. This marks the 20th consecutive win over the Paladins dating all the way back to 1989. The Seminoles (5-1) lost the doubles point but came back strong in singles to win.

The No. 31 duo of senior Vahid Mirzadeh (Wellington, Fla.) and freshman Connor Smith (Tampa, Fla.) won its fifth match of the year. They easily won on court one 8-2 over Chris Motes and Chris Rhyne. Courts two and third consisted of doubles teams in their first matches together but did not win.

In singles play, the Seminoles got back on track winning five matches with No. 27 Jean-Yves Aubone (Miami, Fla.) clinching the win for his teammates. The senior won 6-2, 6-3 over Chris Motes on court two. On court three No. 23 junior Clint Bowles (Tampa, Fla.) won 6-2, 6-2 over Jordan Walters. 

Blue Devils Earn Doubleheader Sweep on Sunday
The 21st-ranked Blue Devils swept a doubleheader on Sunday, defeating both No. 34 Notre Dame and N.C. Central by 7-0 scores. With the two wins, Duke improves to 4-2 on the season.

Duke fought off a persistent Notre Dame squad to win a 7-0 match today at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. The Blue Devils had two matches go into tiebreakers, winning both to close out the Fighting Irish.

In the evening match of the doubleheader, the Blue Devils put away N.C. Central with ease, winning all three doubles matches and all six singles contests in straight sets for a 7-0 win. 

Hokies complete perfect Weekend in New England
Virginia Tech completed a successful weekend in New England with a 6-1 win Sunday over Brown at the Pizzitola Sports Center on the Brown University campus. The Hokies defeated Boston College, 7-0, on Saturday. Tech improved to 4-1 with the win, while Brown fell to 4-3.

Tech, ranked No. 20 nationally which is the highest ranking in the history of the program, won all three doubles matches for the first point of the day and took five of the six singles for the victory.

In singles, Yoann Re (Sr., Verdun, Quebec, Canada) defeated Kendrick Au, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 and Luke Somen (So., Karlovac, Croatia) took the No. 2 contest, 7-6 (2), 6-2, over Nathaniel Gorham. Elsewhere, Corrado Degl’ Incerti Tocci (So., Reggio Emilia, Italy) lost, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 3 against Timmy Klanke, Patrick Daciek, ranked No. 75 nationally, took the No. 4 match, 7-5, 6-4, versus Mike Hill, Will Beck (Jr., Potomac, Md.) took Tom Deighton, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5 and Sebastien Jacques (Jr., Magog, Quebec, Canada), ranked No. 100, blanked Charlie Posner, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 6 match.

No. 3 Ohio State Hands No. 22 UNC Second Loss of Season
Third-ranked Ohio State dealt No. 22 North Carolina its second loss of the 2010 season Sunday.

The Buckeyes defeated the Tar Heels 6-1, as Ryan Noble won the lone UNC team point in singles play.

In doubles, Clay Donato and Stefan Hardy beat Ohio State's top-ranked pairing of Chase Buchanan and Justin Kronauge 8-2. Ninety-second ranked Noble beat No. 34 Shuhei Uzawa 7-6(2) 6-4 at the fifth singles flight. 

No. 27 Miami Falls to No. 32 Rice
The No. 27 University of Miami men’s tennis team fell to No. 32 Rice, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon in Houston.

The Hurricanes (2-2) fell behind 1-0 after dropping the doubles point. The Miami tandem of Keith Crowley and Hector Nieto picked up the lone doubles victory for the Hurricanes, battling for the 9-8 (8-6) win at No. 2 over Rice’s 51st-ranked duo of Michael Nusslein and Christian Saravia, to win their second-straight match and improve to 2-0.

Rice (5-1) clinched the victory with three-straight singles wins, however Miami managed to put a point on the board with a victory at the No. 6 position. No. 120 David Simon defeated Andy Wang, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, to improve to 9-5 for the season. 

Terps Fall at No. 56 Penn State, 5-2
The Maryland men's tennis team dropped its first match of the 2010 season Sunday, losing on the road against No. 56 Penn State, 5-2.

The Terps (3-1) started out slow, losing the doubles point and the first two singles matches to fall behind 3-0 to the Nittany Lions (4-1).

Sergio Wyss, playing at No. 1 singles, then picked up Maryland's first point of the match. After dropping the first set to Penn State's Ryan Gormley, Wyss rallied to win the final two sets for a 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 victory.

Tech Falls to Georgia, 5-2
Guillermo Gomez captured a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles, but 41st-ranked Georgia Tech dropped three hard-fought doubles matches and three in singles before that and fell, 5-2, to No. 7 Georgia Sunday at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility.

The Yellow Jackets (6-2) lost their second straight match of the dual season, while the Bulldogs (4-0) won their 65th consecutive homecourt match and 24th in a row in the Tech-Georgia series.

Gomez, an All-American ranked No. 4 in the nation, got past Georgia's Javier Garrapiz, ranked 45th in the nation, 6-4, 7-6, to improve his singles record this year to 17-3 (4-1 in dual matches).
