COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland school records fell at the 2004 men's swimming championships on Feb. 26, 2004, as the men's swimming and diving team provided the next "Top Terp Moment" of the year. Senior Mark Hill was part of two record-breaking performances, as he placed second in the in the 50-yard freestyle (20.11) and helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team to a 1:20.77 time.

School Records Fall At ACC's
COLLEGE PARK, Md. --
The Maryland men's swimming and diving team is in seventh place with 114 team points after the second day of competition at the ACC Championship. Virginia is in first place with 314 points, followed by Florida State (204) and Georgia Tech (157.5). North Carolina (155.5) and Clemson (148) round out the top five.

Senior Mark Hill (Rye Brook, N.Y.) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle. His time of 20.11 broke the school record of 20.14 he set at last year's ACC's and is a 'B' cut time for the NCAA Championship.

Maryland's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Hill, junior Mike Fried (Ambler, Pa.), freshman Kevin Ford (Sinking Spring, Pa.) and junior Erik Weinberg (Phoenix, Md.) also set a new school record. They finished in fourth place with a 'B' cut time of 1:20.77. The previous mark of 1:20.80 was set at last year's ACC's by Hill, Brian Luoma, Fried and Weinberg.

Fried and Ford finished 12th and 13th in the 50-free with respective times of 20.76 and 20.77. Weinberg placed 18th in the event with a time of 20.96.

Junior Chris Brandenberger (Stony Brook, N.Y.) swam a season-best time of 4:30.29 in the 500-yard freestyle to finish in 13th place. Sophomore Patrick Doyle (Norfolk, Va.) and junior Brad Schertle (Baltimore, Md.) took 20th and 21st, respectively, with times of 4:36.13 and 4:36.29. Senior Ari Limor (Givataym, Israel) placed 24th in the event with a time of 4:40.71.
