Hollenbach, Twellman Receive College Soccer Online Honors
Dec. 20, 1999 COLLEGE PARK, MD.-- - Sophomores Beckett Hollenbach (Havertown, Pa.) and Taylor Twellman (St. Louis, Mo.) have been selected as third-team All-Americans by College Soccer Online. A third-team NSCAA All-American, Twellman was the Terps' leading scorer this season with 12 goals and nine assists for 33 points. The forward finished his sophomore season tenth on the all-time goals list with 28, sixth in career assists with 17 and seventh on the career points chart with 76. The Missouri native was also named first-team All South-Atlantic, received first team All-ACC recognition, and was named to Soccer America's Team of the Week twice during the regular season. ACC Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 20, Twellman was also selected by the Maryland Athletic Department as the Student-Athlete of the Week for Aug. 30. The team captain, Hollenbach was plagued by injury through most of his sophomore campaign, still started 15 games and added one assist for the Terps this season. The Pennsylvania native was also chosen as the Student-Athlete of the Week by the Maryland Athletic Department for the week of Oct. 25. The pair led the Terps to a 14-win regular season, the school record for wins in a regular season. Maryland finished its season at 14-6 and took its sixth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. The team was ranked in the NSCAA's top 10 for 12 out of 13 weeks this season. The Terrapins also received their first-ever No. 1 ranking by Soccer America and held onto the top-spot for two weeks.
