Earlier this season, Trout was tabbed a Second-Team Preseason All-American by Soccer America. He was named Second Team All-ACC and was selected to the ACC All-Tournament team. On of Trout's biggest games this season occurred when he scored four goals (including three in the first half of play) in UVa's 8-1 victory over Appalachian State on 9/8/99. His contributions to the team were so significant that he was named the 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year. Martino was also chosen to the ACC All-Tournament team after the Cavaliers finished runner-up in the ACC Tournament. He played his way into a starting role right from the start of the season and gathered 1971 minutes of action during the year.

Martino started all 23 of the games he appeared in this season for Virginia and finished second on the team with seven assists and was fourth on the squad with seven goals. Three of Martino's seven goals were game-winning markers scored in the Cavaliers 2-1 victory over North Carolina (9/25/99), a 3-0 decision over Marshall (10/20/99) and a 3-1 win over Brown (11/28/99) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Two of his seven assists were game-winners which he recorded in Virginia's 2-1 victory over Cal State Fullerton (10/29/99) and UVa's 1-0 win over Ohio State (11/5/99). Martino ended the season as the Cavaliers third leading scorer with 21 points resulting from seven assists and seven goals. He scored his first collegiate goal in 2-1 win over Virginia Tech on 9/22/99 and tallied his first collegiate assist in Virginia's 1-1 tie with then unbeaten Wake Forest on 9/19/99.

Totten, a second-year midfielder, entered the '99 season as one of the Cavaliers top returning players. A Second Team All-ACC selection this year, he started all 24 games for UVa and gathered 2226 minutes of playing time during the season. Totten finished fifth on the team in scoring with 17 points coming from six goals and five assists. His six goals scores ranks fifth on the team and his five assists ranks third on the squad.
