COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior men's soccer player Seth Stammler has been named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Stammler, a native of Gahanna, Ohio, has a GPA of 3.89 in finance while helping the Terps to a 20-3-1 record and a second straight College Cup appearance.

Stammler, a two-time team captain, started every match at center back, and has played all but four minutes for the Terps this season. He has one goal and one assist and was a key to Maryland's 12 shutouts this season. Stammler was also named to the All-ACC First Team, ACC All-Tournament Team and College Cup All-Tournament Team.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
