GREENSBORO, N.C. - Duke goalkeeper Brendan Fitzgerald was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 26. Fitzgerald played more than 186 minutes in the net for the Blue Devils, collecting seven saves en route to helping Duke to a pair of shutouts, including a 1-0 overtime victory over No. 19 Virginia last week.

On Tuesday night, Fitzgerald made two saves and the Blue Devils had two team saves in a 2-0 win at in-state rival Elon. The senior from Boxford, Mass., then recorded his seventh shutout of the season in a 1-0 overtime win on Saturday against visiting ACC foe and 19th-ranked Virginia. For the win, Fitzgerald had five saves, including two in the second half when Duke was playing a man down. The Devils played the final 44 minutes of the game with just 10 players on the field.

For the season, Fitzgerald has tallied three consecutive shutouts and seven on the 2008 season. The veteran also has a 0.73 goals against average and .817 save percentage.

The Blue Devils will host their final three opponents of the 2008 season. Duke welcomes non-conference foe Colgate on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Koskinen Stadium. Match time for the game is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
