GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest’s Zack Schilawski earns this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honor after leading his second-ranked Demon Deacons to a pair of wins, including a 1-0 victory over fifth-ranked Maryland.

Schilawski scored three of Wake’s four goals on the week, including a pair of game-winners, to improve the Deacs’ overall mark to 11-2-2 and 4-1-1 in conference play. Against South Carolina, the Cary, N.C., native recorded his second multi-goal game of the year, scoring the game-winner in the ninth minute and adding an insurance goal in the 59th minute. Schilawski also scored the game-winning goal against fifth-ranked Maryland, registering the only goal of the match on a penalty kick in the sixth minute.

The win against the Terrapins moved Wake Forest into a tie for first in the conference with North Carolina and Maryland, all of which have 13 points for the season (4 wins=12 pts & 1 tie=1pt. apiece in ACC action). Schilawski leads the league with nine goals and 22 points on the season and has a league-tying second-most (4) game-winning goals. For his career, Schilawski has 35 goals, which ranks in a tie for fourth in school history.

For the second straight year, Cary, Schilawski’s hometown, and the WakeMed Soccer Park will play host to both the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Soccer Championships.
