Luthy Named ACC Player of the Week
Oct. 9, 2012 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Boston College senior goalkeeper Justin Luthy has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, announced by conference officials on Tuesday. Luthy led the Eagles to a 1-0-1 week, which included a conference win at No. 15/17 Wake Forest, 1-0. The senior from Dublin, Ohio, stopped a season-high eight shots, all in the second half, while the Demon Deacons were pressuring to score the equalizer. His eight saves were also the most he has registered since 2009, and tied the second most recorded by an ACC student-athlete in a match this season. The win over Wake Forest marked the Eagles' first over a ranked opponent this season and pushed their unbeaten streak to a season-high five games. Luthy also made three saves in a 1-1 double overtime draw at Harvard on Oct. 2. Following a full slate of non-conference games on Tuesday and Wednesday, league action continues on Friday, Oct. 12 with six teams in action. Friday's lineup includes Maryland at Duke on Regional Sports Networks, Virginia Tech hosting NC State live on the ACC Digital Network on YouTube, and Wake Forest at Virginia.
