GREENSBORO, N.C. - Boston College's Alejandro Bedoya was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week after registering his first career hat trick to lead the 16th-ranked Eagles to a 4-1 win over No. 8 North Carolina.

Bedoya, who missed Boston College's first two games of the season, recorded a trio of scores to help the Eagles in their first ACC win of the 2008 season. BC, which dropped its ACC season-opening match to Maryland, is currently 3-2-1 in overall play and 1-1-0 in ACC action.

The Weston, Fla., native's first score came in the 43rd minute when he connected his right foot on a bouncing ball from 22 yards, concluding a first half in which the host Eagles' out shot the visiting Tar Heels, 8-3. The senior doubled the BC lead less than three minutes into the second half with a header off a cross from teammate Mario Uribe, who netted BC's third goal to conclude a six-minute unanswered scoring span for the Eagles.

Bedoya concluded the game's scoring and completed his first career hat trick in the 73rd minute, when he fired a pass from teammate Shawn Chin into the net from eight yards out.

The hat trick marked Bedoya's first three scores of his four-game 2008 campaign and earned him national recognition from College Soccer News as the media agencies' National Player of the Week recipient. In two career meetings with the Tar Heels, Bedoya has registered four goals and one assist.

Boston College will host Brown University in a non-league match tonight (Tuesday, Sept. 23) at 7 p.m. ET.
