Wake Forest's Lyle Adams Earns ACC Men's Soccer Accolades
Sept. 9, 2008 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest's Lyle Adams was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week after leading the top-ranked Demon Deacons to a pair of wins in their own Deacon Fall Classic. Adams scored the game-winning goal in Wake Forest's 3-0 victory over No. 14 UCLA last Friday in the opening round of the Deacon Fall Classic. The goal, a header in the third minute of action, was the second of the season and first game-winner in 2008 for Adams. The senior from Orlando, Fla., also made a game-saving play in Wake's 1-0 victory over South Carolina last Sunday. Adams cleared the ball off the line after a header by the Gamecock's Schuyler Reardon in the 86th minute that appeared to be going into the goal. For his weekend contributions, Adams was named to the all-tournament team of the Deacon Fall Classic.
Adams and the Deacs open the Atlantic Coast Conference portion of the 2008 schedule on Saturday, Sept. 13, as the squad welcomes Clemson at 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
