Men's Soccer Welcomes New Assistant
April 4, 2006 Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College men's soccer staff added its new assistant, Kevin Anderson, a five-year veteran of the MLS who most recently coached at Columbia University. Anderson joins Boston College after spending two years with the Lions as an assistant. He brings a number of playing accolades and extensive coaching experience to the men's soccer program. Anderson played professionally for 10 years from 1993-2003, including two years with the Colorado Rapids and three years with the Tampa Bay Mutiny of Major League Soccer. He began his collegiate career at George Mason, where he garnered Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie honors and first-team all CAA a year later. After transferring to Southern Connecticut State, Anderson won a national championship in his senior year while capturing NSCAA First Team All-America honors. In his two years with Columbia, Anderson was an integral part of numerous aspects of the soccer program, including the team's strength and conditioning, day-to-day operations, student-athlete academic monitoring, and budgeting. In addition to coaching, Anderson was an adjunct professor of physical education. He spent two years coaching at his alma mater during his professional playing days and is currently a coach for the Region 1 Olympic Development Program. Anderson earned a B.S. in Liberal Studies from Southern Connecticut State and also holds a USSF National "A" Coaching License.
