The Clemson men's soccer team won its first spring season match with a 5-1 win over USC-Spartanburg at Historic Riggs Field on Tuesday evening. Eric Riddleberger opened the scoring 45 seconds into the first half with a 12-yard shot after a flurry of shots on target by Andre Borges. USC-Spartanburg overcame the early 1-0 deficit and slow start by equalizing in the 30th minute.

The other Clemson goals where scored by Charlie Roberts (2), Steve Rhyne and Eric Riddleberger. USC-S had an opportunity to get a goal back with a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box. The shot just went over the crossbar although well covered by goaltender Hunter Gilstrap.
