The Tar Heels wrap up the regular season with a 13-2-2 overall mark and a 5-2-1 conference record to finish at the top of the league table for the first time since 2000.

With 14 points in ACC action, Carolina finishes atop the ACC standings with Wake Forest. The 2009 ACC Men's Soccer Championship opens Tuesday at Cary's WakeMed Soccer Park, and the Tar Heels will take the pitch Wednesday in a quarterfinal match up. The official seeding and schedule will be announced Monday by the league office.

Schuler netted his third goal this week, and senior defender Jordan Graye and freshman midfielder Martin Murphy each scored for Carolina, which extended its unbeaten streak to four matches.

With the win, Wake Forest improves to 13-3-2 on the season and 5-2-1 in ACC play. Duke is now 12-5-0 and 4-4-0 in league play.

Boston College Concludes Regular Season with 2-0 Win over Virginia Tech
Freshman Kevin Mejia converted a penalty kick at 48:03 and sophomore Edvin Worley added a late score to lift Boston College to a 2-0 ACC win over Virginia Tech before 686 fans at the Newton Campus Complex.

The match marked the Eagles' final regular-season contest. BC finished with an 11-7-0 record, including a 5-3-0 ACC mark. The Eagles finish in third place in the league standings with 15 points. North Carolina and Wake Forest tied atop the standings with 16 points.

Mejia converted his third penalty kick of the season after classmate Charlie Rugg was taken down in the box by a Hokie defender.

Cortes Paces Terps on Senior Night
Billy Cortes tallied a goal and an assist to lead the No. 6 Maryland men's soccer team to a win, 2-1, against College of Charleston on Senior Night at Ludwig Field Friday.

After a nearly-even played first half with Maryland owning the slight edge in the shot category, 5-4, College of Charleston got on the board at 61:37 when Matt Morris' slow roller inched past a diving Zac MacMath to his right for a 1-0 Cougar lead.

The Terps evened the score 9:30 later when Cortes tallied his first goal of the 2009 season. The junior midfielder set up the play himself after Drew Yates fed him a ball down the near sideline and he battled a pair of CofC defenders to win the corner. Kaoru Forbess' ensuing corner kick went through traffic, bounced off the chest of a Cougar player and Cortes headed the ball to the lower left corner for the score.
