Clemson Defeats North Greenville 6-0 CLEMSON, SC - Tommy Drake, Brannon Blanke, and Austin Savage all scored two goals each in leading Clemson to a 6-0 win over North Greenville in a men's intercollegiate soccer match at Clemson, SC Wednesday night. With the win, Clemson improves to 3-10-1 overall, while North Greenville falls to 6-7-1 this season. Drake and Blanke both scored goals in the first half to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead at intermission. Savage scored on an unassisted goal at the 53:13 mark and Blanke scored again 1:47 later for his second goal of the evening as the Tigers took a 4-0 advantage. Late in the second half, with only three minutes left to go in regulation, Clemson finished the scoring with two goals. Savage scored at the 87:06 mark and Drake at the 87:28 point in the match, just :22 seconds apart. No. 3 Tar Heels Handle Hatters, 7-0 CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Sophomore Alex Dixon recorded North Carolina's first hat trick since 2005 to highlight a 7-0 win for the No. 3 Tar Heels over Stetson Wednesday in the regular season home finale at Fetzer Field. Dixon scored three times in under seven minutes to lead Carolina (11-2-2) to its largest offensive outburst of the season. Dixon, a native of Humble, Texas, netted successive goals in the in the 40th, 45th and 47th minutes for Carolina's first three-goal effort since Scott Campbell against Boston College in 2005. Joining Dixon in the scoring column in the first half was Jordan Gafa, who was credited with the game-winner with his first career strike in the 13th minute. Enzo Martinez, Martin Murphy, who also added an assist, and Dustin McCarty all found the back of the net after intermission. Kirk Urso picked up a pair of assists on the night for the Tar Heels, who also defeated the Hatters (11-3-2) by the same 7-0 score in their only previous meeting in 1990. Blue Devils Explode for 6-0 Win Over Presbyterian DURHAM, N.C.-The Duke University men's soccer team exploded for six goals to defeat visiting Presbyterian 6-0 in its final non-conference match of the season. The Blue Devils had five different goal scorers and eight players overall register at least one point. Freshman Andrew Wenger led the way with two tallies, while junior Cole Grossman had a goal and an assist for three points. Freshman Ryan Brown dished out a pair of assists of his own in the second half. Duke is now 11-4-0 overall and 10-1-0 at home this season. The Blue Devils controlled the run of play from the opening whistle. Just six minutes into the game on a corner kick to the far post from Grossman, Wenger was able to slot the ball high past Andrew Wallingford for an early 1-0 lead. It was Wenger's second goal of the season.
