NEWTON, Mass. - Freshman forward Edvin Worley headed in a loose ball in the six-yard box for the game's only goal as Boston College earned a 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference victory over No. 17 Virginia before 591 fans at the Newton Campus Soccer Complex.
Worley finished off a set piece as senior Paul Gerstenberger launched a free kick from midfield into the 18-yard box. Gerstenberger's feed was redirected with an Alejandro Bedoya head ball into the center of the crease that Worley knocked into the net at 65:28.
CLEMSON, S.C. – Behind two second-half goals, the NC State men’s soccer team came away with a 2-0 win at Clemson Friday night. After a scoreless first half, the Pack (5-7-2, 1-4 ACC) would find the back of the Tiger’s (4-6-2, 2-3-1 ACC) net two times, and earn the first shutout of an ACC opponent on the road since 2005.
Junior Federico Nachmann got the Pack on the scoreboard in the 71st minute off an unassisted goal. The Pack would add an insurance goal in the 86th minute, as redshirt freshman Kris Byrd tallied his first career score.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 6 Maryland men's soccer showed extreme balance Friday night, registering four goals and limiting Evansville to only one shot, in a 4-0 win against the Purple Aces in non-conference action at Ludwig Field.
After netting the game-winner in overtime against Lehigh on Tuesday night, Townsend picked up his team-leading ninth goal of the year at 17:05 off Jason Herrick's foot to give Maryland an early lead, 1-0. The goal came out of a small scramble in the middle of the box.
