GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina's Ryan Adeleye was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week after leading his unranked Tar Heels to a 1-0 upset over eighth-ranked Duke, scoring the game winner in the 103rd minute.
The victory marked North Carolina's first win over the Blue Devils since 2003 and was the Tar Heels' fifth shutout in 11 games.
Adeleye scored a rebound goal in the 103rd minute to even UNC's league record to 2-2-0. The Maplewood, N.J., native, who was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for his performance against Duke, and the Tar Heel defense have yielded only eight goals on the season.
