Arnoux Nets Hat Trick in Wake's 8-2 Win over Virginia Tech
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Cody Arnoux recorded the first hat trick of his career and Ike Opara scored two first-half goals as No. 1 Wake Forest (10-0-0, 3-0-0 ACC) pounded Virginia Tech (3-6-1, 0-4-0 ACC) 8-2 on Saturday night at Spry Stadium.
The eight goals scored by Wake Forest equals the most the team has ever scored against an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent. The Deacons also scored eight against NC State in an ACC Tournament game during the 1997 season.
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men’s soccer team used three second-half goals in defeating visiting Gardner-Webb, 4-0, on Saturday night at the NC State Soccer Stadium. The Wolfpack (3-6-1) used a pair of goals from junior Alan Sanchez in a span of just over one minute midway through the second half, and defeated the Bulldogs (3-7) with a 4-0 score for the second straight year.
NC State struck first in the 21st minute. Sanchez won a ball in the midfield and played a pass to classmate Ronnie Bouemboue on the left wing. After a few dribbles, Bouemboue struck a hard shot from about 30-yards out that found the back of the net at the 20:03 mark. The goal was Bouemboue’s fourth in the last three games, and his team leading sixth of the season.
