NC State Ties Longwood, 1-1

RALEIGH, N.C. - For the second straight game, the NC State men's soccer came away with a tie, this time playing visiting Longwood 1-1 Wednesday afternoon at Method Road. The Lancers (2-3-2) converted a penalty kick to strike first, but the Wolfpack (3-2-3) answered back with the tying goal in the 82nd minute.

After a scoreless first half of action, both teams would score once in the second half. Longwood struck first after the Pack was called for a handball in the penalty box and the Lancers were awarded a PK at the 61:30 mark. Sean Harney converted the kick and gave Longwood the 1-0 lead.

Sixth-Ranked Boston College Plays To 0-0 Draw Against Yale

  • NEWTON, Mass. - Junior goalkeeper Chris Brown made five saves and Boston College fired 34 shots as the sixth-ranked Eagles played to a 0-0 stalemate with Ivy-League opponent Yale at Newton Campus Field on Wednesday.

    Junior midfielders Alejandro Bedoya (game-high 12 shots) and Reuben Ayarna (eight shots) led an Eagle offensive attack that produced 13 shots in the first half, 14 in the second stanza and three in each of two overtime periods.

    The Eagles (5-1-1) also held a 13-3 advantage in corner kicks.

    Brown stopped two Yale scoring opportunities in each of the first two 45-minute halves and made a brilliant save on Brad Rose's scoring bid in the 106th minute to record his fifth shutout (in seven games) this season.
