No. 2 Carolina Takes Fourth Straight From No. 11 Duke, 2-1
Sophomore forward Billy Schuler and junior midfielder Cameron Brown provided the offense, and No. 2 North Carolina turned in a strong defensive effort in a 2-1 win over No. 11 Duke Friday at Fetzer Field. Carolina improved to 4-0-1 and 2-0-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, while the previously unblemished Blue Devils dropped to 4-1-0 and 1-1-0 in league action.

The Tar Heels, who have won their first two ACC matches for the first time since 1987, got goals from Schuler in the 22nd minute and Brown in the 69th minute for all the scoring they would need. Duke got back in the match with a 79th-minute goal from Ryan Finley, but Carolina's defense limited the Blue Devils to just five shots on the night - all in the second half.

The Tar Heels, who have not lost to Duke since 2006, extended their winning streak over the Blue Devils to four games, marking the longest such streak for Carolina since the 1954-55 seasons. The victory also secured the first point towards the 2009-10 Carlyle Cup, the all-sports competition between UNC and Duke, for the Tar Heels.

No. 20 UVa Upsets No. 2 Wake Forest, 1-0
Junior defender Mike Volk’s first career goal as a Cavalier was the difference in the match, as the No. 20 Virginia men’s soccer team upset No. 2 Wake Forest, 1-0, on the road Friday night. The Virginia win snapped a Wake Forest home unbeaten streak of 35 games, and was the first Cavalier victory in Winston-Salem since 2005.

Virginia improved to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in ACC play with the win, while Wake Forest's record dropped to 3-1-1 (1-1 ACC).

In front of a crowd of 1,752 at Spry Stadium, the Cavaliers were able to capitalize on a scoring opportunity off of a corner kick in the 24th minute. Neil Barlow (Herndon, Va.) served the ball and Volk fired a shot from close range that trickled over the goal line.

Boston College Captures 1-0 Win At No. 14 Boston University
Sophomore midfielder Edvin Worley snapped a scoreless tie in the 57th minute with a right-footed blast off a feed from freshman Charlie Rugg for the game's lone goal as Boston College captured a 1-0 non-conference victory over 14th-ranked Boston University before 1,907 fans at Nickerson Field.

Freshman goalkeeper Justin Luthy recorded two saves, including a save on Michael Bustamante's direct kick in the 89th minute, to earn his third victory - and third shutout - of the season.

The visiting Eagles (3-3-0) recorded 10 shots in the match, including four shots on goal.
