Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision To Harvard

NEWTON, Mass.  - Sophomore midfielder Edvin Worley nearly tied the game at one goal apiece in the 38th minute with a right-footed blast off the near post, but Harvard countered - and doubled - its lead 44 seconds before halftime and maintained its advantage through the second half as Boston College fell to the visiting Crimson 2-0 before a Labor Day crowd of 1,143 fans at the Newton Campus Complex.

BC (1-2-0) totaled a 17-14 shot advantage in the game, including a 9-6 edge in the game's first 45 minutes. Harvard earned a 7-2 edge in the shots on goal category as well as a 7-6 edge in corner kicks.

In addition to Worley's 28-yard missile off the post, freshman Charlie Rugg nearly halved the visitor's lead in the 69th minute with a one-time shot that missed wide. Less than two minutes later, fellow freshman Isaac Taylor attempted a shot from the inside the 18-yard circle that missed wide right. Freshman goalkeeper Justin Luthy registered five saves in the losing effort, including a stop of Brian Rogers' breakaway chance in the 55th minute.
