2007 All-ACC Academic Men's Lacrosse Team Announced
July 2, 2007 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Fifteen Duke Blue Devil student-athletes headline this year's All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men's Lacrosse team as announced Monday by Commissioner John D. Swofford. All four league schools competing in men's lacrosse are represented on the honor squad, including two student-athletes who received all-conference accolades. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. The Blue Devils, which led all ACC schools with 15 members on the academic team, concluded the 2007 season with a 17-3 overall ledger, matching the NCAA record for wins in a season set previously by the 2005 Duke, 2006 Hofstra and 2006 Virginia squads. The Virginia Cavaliers placed six on the academic squad, followed by Maryland's five student-athletes and North Carolina's four honorees. Earning both academic and athletic recognition this season were Duke senior Nick O'Hara and Virginia junior Ben Rubeor. O'Hara led the Blue Devils in caused turnovers with 10 on the 2007 season. In addition to Rubeor's two Player of the Week honors this season, the junior attackman led the Cavaliers in goals (46), points (68), and shots (124).
