UNC Lacrosse Team Winds Up Stay In Japan
June 22, 2006 Thursday, June 22, 2006, 8:30 p.m. Tokyo Time, 7:30 a.m. Chapel Hill Time TOKYO, JAPAN--The University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team is in the final hours of its week-long trip to Japan after having competed in the 2006 International Lacrosse Friendship Games. Thursday was a day for sightseeing as most of the UNC players stayed in Tokyo to shop and visit the local attractions while a 20-person contingent took a trip to Mount Fuji and Mount Hakone with a return to Tokyo on the Bullet Train. The Tar Heels ended their week in Japan Wednesday with a 6-1-1 record in their eight-game schedule played over five days. UNC departs Tokyo's Narita Airport on Friday 1t 12:25 p.m. on American Airlines Flight No. 176. UNC will land in Dallas-Fort Worth at 9:45 a.m. Friday after an overnight flight that will see the Tar Heels cross back over the International Dateline. Carolina will connect in DFW, leaving at 12:50 p.m. on AA 1166, landing in RDU at 4:30 p.m. Carolina's week-long tour was organized by ZAG Tours of Princeton, N.J. The entire Carolina lacrosse family extends its thanks to ZAG Tours and the hospitable people of Japan for an outstanding trip this week.
