Duke's Fenton & Marshall Selected For 64th Annual North-South All-Star Game
June 6, 2005 Duke seniors Aaron Fenton and Ryan Marshall, fresh off helping the Blue Devils to an NCAA single-season record 17 wins and national runner-up finish, have been selected to play in the 64th annual North-South All-Star game set for Saturday, June 11 at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex. Face-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. The North-South game dates back to 1940 when the North squad earned a 6-5 win at Municipal Stadium in Baltimore, Md. Since 1940, the game has been played annually, interupted only in 1943 and 1944 by World War II. Fenton, a native of Philadelphia, Pa., enjoyed his senior campaign in Durham by earning All-ACC and First Team All-America honors. He finished with a 6.75 goals against average and .629 save percentage to lead the Duke defense that ranked third in the nation. Marshall, a Scarborough, Ontario, Canada product, closed the year ranking seventh on the team in scoring with 21 total points. He helped the Blue Devils lead the nation in scoring offense with his 11 goals and 10 assists. The Blue Devils went 17-3 on the year, captured the ACC regular season crown with a perfect 3-0 ledger, and advanced to the national title game before falling to Johns Hopkins, 9-8.
