Danowski & Zash Earn USILA All-America Honors
June 4, 2004 Duke's Matt Danowski and Matt Zash have been named Honorable Mention All-America by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced this week by the organization. A freshman attackman from Farmingdale, N.Y., Danowski led the 2004 Blue Devils in total points (42) and goals (23) while tying for the team lead in assists (19). In the ACC, he ranked tied for first in assists, fourth in total points and fifth in goals. Danowski was named the ACC Rookie of the Year and earned a spot on the ACC All-Tournament Team following a four-goal, two-assist performance in Duke's 10-7 semifinal loss to Maryland.
Zash, a sophomore midfielder from Massapequa, N.Y., totaled 17 points on the year with 13 goals and four assists. He was named to the All-ACC squad, and closed the campaign with a season-high four goals against Army on May 8.
