All-ACC Men's Lacrosse Team Features Five Blue Devils
April 22, 1999 GREENSBORO, N.C. - The third-ranked Duke Blue Devils, with a league-high five players selected, spearhead the 1999 All-Atlantic Coast Conference men's lacrosse team. The team, voted on by the league's four head coaches, includes players from all four lacrosse playing schools. Fifth-ranked Virginia, the No. 2 seeded team in this weekend's ACC Championship in Chapel Hill, N.C., placed three players on the All-ACC unit. Eighth-ranked Maryland earned two berths and North Carolina one on the select squad. The Blue Devil quintet includes midfielders John O'Donnell, Tim Knowles and Nick Hartofilis, defenseman Stephen Card and attackman Jared Frood. O'Donnell and Knowles were two of the three unanimous picks on the team, while Frood is second in the ACC in scoring with 42 points (24 goals, 18 assists) in 11 games. Virginia's selections include midfielder Jay Jalbert, defenseman Ryan Curtis and attackman Tucker Radebaugh. Radebaugh, also a unanimous selection, leads the ACC in scoring with 38 points on 26 goals and 12 assists in nine games. Heading up the list of Maryland honorees is goalie Kevin Healy and defenseman Chris Lamy. Healy is second in the ACC in both goal allowed average (8.08) and save percentage (.592). North Carolina placed midfielder Justin Bowman, who has 27 goals on the year to his credit. Bowman, along with Radebaugh, Frood, and Healy are repeaters from the 1998 All-ACC team.
