Pairings Set for the 2012 ACC Men's Lacrosse Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Pairings for the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Championship have been determined, as announced by the league office on Friday, April 13. Duke is locked into the No. 1 seed in the upcoming two-day championship, which will take place April 20 and 22 on the campus of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
Duke, which defeated Virginia on Friday night to clinch the top seed, concluded the regular season with a 2-1 record in conference play and is 11-3 overall. The Blue Devils will face fourth-seeded Maryland (1-2 ACC) on Friday, April 20 at 5 p.m. on ESPNU in the first semifinal matchup. Maryland, the defending ACC champions, took the regular season meeting between the two teams, 10-7, in College Park, Md., on March 3.
No. 2 Virginia (2-1 ACC), the championship host, will face third-seeded North Carolina (1-2 ACC) at 7:30 p.m. on ESPNU in the second semifinal. The Cavaliers won in Chapel Hill, N.C., 15-10, on April 7.
Last season, third-seeded Maryland won the 2011 ACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship with an 11-9 victory over No. 1 Duke in Durham, N.C.
