ACC Boasts Four of Top Six in Latest Men's Lacrosse Poll
March 16, 1999 CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The IWLCA Poll Committee has released the second week's rankings for NCAA Division I lacrosse for 1999. Rankings will be released weekly on Monday afternoons. The Maryland Terrapins remained on top of the IWLCA poll with an 18-8 defeat of then-#17 Syracuse. For the third consecutive week, a new school sits in the #2 position, as Penn State makes a seven-rung jump following their 17-12 upset of then-#2 James Madison. Old Dominion and Boston University moved into the polls for the first time this season. The IWLCA Division I Poll for March 15, 1999 is as follows (with current records, poll points, first place votes, and last week's position)

Games this week involving top-20 action include a trio of games on Tuesday as #1 Maryland travels to #3 Virginia, #6 Duke hosts #7 Princeton, and #11 George Mason plays at #14 Vanderbilt. On Wednesday #10 Georgetown hosts #18 Syracuse and #12 Rutgers hosts #15 Delaware. Thursday sees #4 North Carolina hosting #19 Temple in a rematch of the NCAA Quarterfinal from last year, and on Friday another NCAA quarterfinal rematch takes place as #3 Virginia hosts #7 Princeton. New #2 Penn State also travels to Virginia on Friday to face #13 William & Mary. #8 Dartmouth opens with #1 Maryland on Saturday, and on the same day #12 Rutgers faces #17 ODU and #5 JMU takes on #9 Loyola in the CAA. #2 PSU and #3 Virginia play on Sunday.
